Dzierzon
Malgorzata (Gosia) Dzierzon is a UK-based choreographer, teacher and producer.
Born and trained in Poland she worked as a dancer with Rambert, Gothenburg Ballet, Singapore Dance Theatre, Peter Schaufuss Ballet and Royal Danish Ballet. Malgorzata also made guest appearances with Wayne McGregor/Random Dance and with the Ballet Boyz.
Malgorzata’s choreographic work was toured in the UK by Rambert (Flight) and presented in Poland by Wroclaw Opera Ballet (Rasputin 11 for Open Door). She has been commissioned by professional and graduate companies including Ballet Central, INTOTO, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Fertile Ground and the Edinburgh Choreographic Project. Her new work will be staged in Poland as part of Choreographic Territories – New Paths for the Avant-Garde in 2020.
Malgorzata’s film commissions include Kettles’ Yard Gallery, Serpentine Gallery and Rambert. She also collaborated with Tupac Martir’s Satore Studio on Looking Outside My Window Festival and on a large-scale interactive dance projection for Johnnie Walker in Mexico City.
During her career as a dancer she performed full length classical productions as well as neo-classical and contemporary works by George Balanchine, John Neumeier, Maurice Béjart, Meryl Tankard, Nacho Duato, Christopher Bruce, Christopher Wheeldon and Merce Cunningham. Malgorzata created many roles working with choreographers including Javier de Frutos, Doug Varone, Garry Stewart, Nicolo Fonte, Siobhan Davis, Ashley Page and Mark Baldwin among others. She was recognized for her performances in the UK with nominations for the Spotlight Award, Female Artist (Modern) and for Outstanding Female Performance (Modern) in the National Critics’ Circle Awards.
Malgorzata teaches dance at the Royal Academy of Dance, and as a guest at Central School of Ballet, Hong Kong APA and Architectural Association in London. Since 2018 she is the artistic co-director of Newcastle- based company Fertile Ground and co-directs the 2019 and 2020 Dance Journeys for English National Ballet, ENB’s flagship engagement programme.
Working with NMC Malgorzata produced and co-choreographed four full-length productions, including commissions from Southbank Centre, Stone Nest and Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
Malgorzata is a 2014/15 Clore Cultural Leadership Programme Fellow.
